Welcome to the start of something NEW
At the urging of a few key people in my life, as well as the influence of my nagging indecision and uncertainties (I am a college grad working 2 part-time jobs, after all!) I've decided it's time to start writing. Writing about the things I feel passionate about within my field of work and using this blog as a sort of tool to further my career goals.
A New Look pays homage to Christian Dior's revolutionary 1947 collection. Fashion, as we have always known it in the present, is constantly aspiring for a "new look". But the inspiration for new collections and new trends is so often drawn from the past; past feelings, past looks, past ideas, past icons. The past seeps in to everything we do, consciously and subconsciously. This is why understanding the past, history, on personal, local and worldwide scales is so imperative to truly grasping and appreciating the lives we are living now.
I'll be posting about fashion history, museums, current designers and collections, and don't be surprised if I draw in the decorative arts, photography, film, and cultural happenings for good measure. Clothing touches so many areas and aspects of our lives as does history. And it's all just plain fun!
